Nestucca varsity baseball finished the season with a 9-0 shutout loss to Knappa pitched by Eli Takalo on Wednesday. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out 16.

The Loggers fired up the offense on their home turf in the first inning when Shaun Lackey's sacrifice fly scored a run for Knappa, who also tallied three runs in the fifth inning. Logan Bartlett and Luke Goozee each drove in runs during the inning.

A bright spot for the Bobcats was a single by Mitchell Richwine in the first inning. He led Nestucca with one hit in two at bats. Bobby Mallorie led things off on the hill for Nestucca. He went three innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two. Richwine threw three innings out of the bullpen.

Knappa hit one home run on the day when Bartlett went deep in the fifth inning. The Loggers collected nine hits on the day. Jaxson Goodman, Lackey, and Cameron Miethe each collected multiple hits. Miethe, Lackey, and Goodman each collected two hits to lead.

Nestucca picked up a 1-0 playoff victory against Bandon on Monday. The Bobcats finished 14-13 overall with a 10-8 league record, ranked No. 16 in the 2A division by Oregon School Activities Association.
