State Sen. Betsy Johnson (D-Scappoose).

State Sen. Betsy Johnson,

Your recent decision to join anti-environmental Republican colleagues in voting down legislation that addresses single-use plastic pollution cannot be a reflection of your concern for constituents.

Coastal residents in Tillamook and Clatsop counties join plastic pollution clean-ups that involve thousands of person hours annually. But without addressing the source of plastic pollution no amount of citizen action to clear our beaches and waterways of this long-lived and toxic material will be adequate.

That's where legislation to restrict the flow of unnecessary plastics comes in and that is where you have failed your constituents, coastal residents, and all Oregonians, present and future.

Your vote places you in the company of the irredeemably corrupt party that currently holds power in Washington and is a betrayal of your constituents.
