Wonderful and deeply caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Kathryn Lynn Henderson went home to be with Jesus, Monday, July 9th.

She is survived by her husband, John, her son John C. (Amanda), grandson, Aiden, son Christopher (Aliyah), her parents Bob and Joan Lichner, siblings Cheryl Anderson (Ed), Susan Heffel, Bob Lichner (Val), Barb Brew (Ron), Karen Wilkins (Russ), Mother and Father-in-law Lucky and Madeline Durand, her husband’s siblings Richard (Sheri), Melissa Crews (Tom), Tonia Peake (Scott), Jerry Durand (Michelle), Dawn Massaro (Dominick) and an incredible group of nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Kathryn was born in Eugene, Oregon. In the first months of her life she had her first open heart surgery. She was raised in Garibaldi, Oregon and Port Alice, Alaska, as the family moved with her dad to where he worked. Her adventurous young life was interrupted twice more by open heart surgery.

She graduated from Tillamook Christian Center, Tillamook, Oregon in 1983. In late 1984, on a trip to visit her sister, Cheryl, in Florida, she was introduced to her future husband, John, at church. She returned home the following April. John followed her to Oregon in June to meet the family, and they returned to Florida on a Greyhound bus. They were married on December 28th, 1985.

Their life together included time in Oregon and Alaska, but they called Middleburg, Florida home raising their two wonderful sons there. Life was interrupted with another open heart surgery in 1993 and numerous procedures throughout her life, but she didn’t let that slow her down. She worked for years in childcare, impacting the lives of hundreds of children, that love her still today.

She loved riding bicycles with her husband, spending countless hours together. She loved flowers, her yard, and had a place of shade under the trees she called her sanctuary. She loved taking pictures with her phone of God’s beautiful creation, and pictures of herself with family and friends having an incredible knack for it. She loved and lived for her boys, their spouses and her precious grandson, Aiden. She and her husband attend Christian Faith Center in Middleburg. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and spent countless hours in the Word and prayer. She was a prayer warrior. She loved everybody she came in contact with, and leaves a legacy of touched lives.

The homegoing service and celebration of her life were held Saturday, July 14th at 11:00 AM, at Christian Faith Center. She was laid to rest at Holly Hill Memorial Park, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL. Thanks to family and friends for their love, prayers and support.
