Hazel Ruth Lyons, 86, passed away peacefully July 2, 2018 at Autumn Winds Care Center in Caldwell, Idaho. Hazel was the daughter of Samuel Lee and Gladys Ruth Hale. She was born on October 4, 1931 and was the first of six girls. Hazel was born and raised in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Boise High School.

In 1950 she married Robert Cleo Gibbons and they had one daughter, Janet Lee Gibbons, in 1952. Hazel and Robert (Bob) both worked for Albertsons for 20 years then in 1970 retired and purchased a motel on the Oregon coast.

In 1982 they divorced and Hazel later married her high school sweetheart, James R. (Jim) Lyons, of McCall, Idaho. Hazel was a hard worker all of her life. She was fun loving, she was extremely generous with all that she acquired and she was always full of life. She enjoyed her vacation home in Terrace Lakes, Idaho where she loved golfing, snowmobiling, and the mountain life with her many friends.

Hazel’s few treasures were her daughter, Janet, her grandchildren, Mike Nelson and Ginger Womack, and great grandchildren, Jake and Lindsey Womack. Hazel’s best friends were her five sisters, Melvina, Nel, Roberta, Helen and Linda.

In 2005 Hazel successfully developed her land on the Oregon coast. The motel was taken down and 37 beautiful oceanfront townhomes stand in its place. Seascape Townhomes are now a landmark in Rockaway Beach, Ore.

Our sweet Hazel will truly be missed and her smiling face will always be remembered

The family will be announcing a “Celebration of Life” gathering at a later date.
