Dorothy (Dolly) Parsons, 92, died peacefully in her sleep June 25, 2019. Born to Marie and John Hense of Lincoln, Nebraska, she left home at age 18 and traveled across country to attend Mercy College of Nursing in California.

She married Warren Parsons and they celebrated over 50 years of marriage, living in Burbank then La Crescenta, California, before moving to Mission Viejo, California, Vancouver, Washington and eventually Tillamook, Oregon.

Dorothy worked as a nurse for an obstetrician before raising three sons.  She was a needle point “pro” and master seamstress, confident in helping with emergency alterations and sewing full wardrobes for her grandchildren.  She found joy in gardening and took pride in managing the homes that she lived in and cared for.  As the daughter of immigrant parents, she remained fluent in German and reached out in friendship to many other immigrant families.  After Warren died in 2003, she found solace in the many friendships and church home that she had at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Tillamook, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her brother Richard.  She is survived by her three sons, Rex (Joan), John (Jennifer) and Lee (Mary), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Her cheerful laugh is a lasting memory. There will be a celebration of her life this fall in Tillamook, Oregon.
