An impressive looking storm off to the west that will push in another round of rain today.  The radar showers the line just off to the west that will bring rain in the early afternoon.

This will likely have a band of heavy rain imbedded in it that will give us a good shot of rain that fortunately will only last for a couple hours.  Winds are southeasterly 8-12 gusting to 25 and the afternoon high expected to be 68. The rain will continue tonight and bring another ½” or so of rain, winds southerly 5-10, tonight’s low near 48.

The system’s associated strong low pressure center is well northwest of the area and will eventually move further north.  This is good for us, but the mariners now have a Gale Warning in the costal waters until 5pm today.

The rain transitions to scattered showers in the early morning hours tomorrow and there is a slight chance of thunderstorms in the coastal waters, and the winds ease, becoming westerly 4-8, the high near 58.  The showers become more widely scattered tomorrow evening but another front moves in late tomorrow night and gives us another shot of rain and gusty winds into Saturday morning, tomorrow night’s lows near 47.

Look for rain then rainshowers Saturday, winds becoming westerly 8-12 in the afternoon, highs near 58. Scattered showers continue for a while Saturday night. Because of some model differences with the next system, that approaches later Saturday night into Sunday, there is some uncertainty in the forecast.

The differences include just how strong the system will get, exactly where it will track, and of course, some timing differences.  It looks like the strong low pressure area will peak offshore then weaken as it nears the coast towards British Columbia, but still bring in some stronger coastal winds, with a slight chance of some very strong winds. Worth watching for any changes in future models runs.

As for next week, big models difference continues, but we know the weather continues to be active so we can expect scattered showers Monday on thru at least midweek, breezy at times with highs near 57, lows near 45.
