Hundreds of hours of volunteer time was given a large blemish by vandals Tuesday night.
One of the newly painted cars, with a special type of paint, was subject to painted graffiti - other rail cars have been hit as well, according to tourism director Nan Devlin.
The newly painted rail cars of the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad were unveiled to the public just last month. The application of the deep blue cobalt background with gold lettering represented hundreds of hours of volunteer time to complete.
The railroad is now researching what can be done to remove the graffiti given the special type of paint required for use on the rail cars.
