Search and Rescue Personnel Locate a Missing McMinnville Man near Beaver

On Monday afternoon hunters located a 1992 silver Honda on a forest service road in the Siuslaw National Forest near Borba Road. The Honda was registered to David Hostetler a 74 year old man reported missing from McMinnville on Saturday morning October 17th, but was last seen Friday the day before. Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office Deputies initiated a search Monday with no results and ended the search after dark due to safety concerns resulting from the rough terrain, and weather.

Search efforts began again early this morning October 20, 2015, with approximately 50 volunteer searchers from Tillamook, Yamhill, Clatsop, Washington, Multnomah, Lincoln, Mountain Wave Search and Rescue, Bureau of Land Management, and US Forest Service. Low clouds and fog has prevented an air search during the morning hours.

At approximately 11:30 this morning searcher found some personal items belonging to Mr. Hostetler on a spur road in the area and the search then concentrated near that area. Shortly thereafter searchers located the subject at the bottom of a steep ravine where it appeared he had fallen the day before. The subject was alive but in need of medical attention. He was attended to at the scene by medical personnel then transported, via Life Guard Helicopter, to a Salem hospital.

Tillamook County wishes to thank all agencies and volunteer personnel involved.
