For years, Joani Moore has faithfully written each month of the Nesko Women’s Club year, with an invitation for Fencepost readers to their meeting. She mentioned with this post that she and her husband will soon move from the area, our loss.

We thank Joani for word of November’s luncheon. Members will gather at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, at Kiawanda Community Center. Nancy Horning of Lucky Beach Boutique will provide the program.  Riverhouse - Nestucca will cater lunch, available for $12. That will include soup and a turkey-cranberry salad sandwich. We may instead opt to bring a packed lunch. All are asked to contribute $3 for use of the space. Nesko club is open to any woman residing in South Tillamook County.

Speaking of long-time Fencepost informants stepping down, Patty Albright is no longer our contact for St. Joseph’s annual bazaar. In her place, Sandra Dust wrote over the recent weekend, so we can save the date. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at the intersection of Parkway Drive and Bridge Street in Cloverdale, will hold its 60th annual bazaar from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 7. Handmade gifts, unique gift baskets and a kitchen full of sweet and savory delights are in store. More than 90 percent of the proceeds benefit needy households and local nonprofits. For more information call Sandra, 503-392-4263.

On the subject of holiday bazaars, a big one is in store at Tillamook County Fairgrounds this weekend. Hours are from 12-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. The fairgrounds are located east of downtown Tillamook on Third Street; admission is free. Besides numerous vendors, the popular event includes a raffle.

Free events at South Tillamook County Library this week include a Lego Day for After School Club at 4 p.m. on Nov. 6. Family stories are planned when the group meets on Nov. 13. Woven Wednesdays, a chance to make progress on sewing or needlecraft project (bring yours along), happens those same evenings at 6. Mother Goose on the Loose, story time for babies and toddlers through age three, happens there at 9 a.m. on Saturdays. South Tillamook County Library is located off of Brooten Road on Camp Street in Pacific City.

A traffic update for folks traveling in Lincoln County- The right lane of southbound U.S. Route 101 in Lincoln City is closed over the D-River Bridge as we go to press. Cracks were discovered in a bridge girder during recent work beneath it, and the lane will remain closed for safety while repairs are done. Expect delays southbound approaching the bridge.

Happy Veteran’s Day dear readers. Thanks to all who have served in the armed forces and sacrificed for our country. We are the home of the free because of the brave.

Happy birthday this week to: Clara Blum, Aric Cansler, Zakai Chatelain, Rob Cook, Jill Ehly, Cindy Green, Bobby Haltiner, Anita Ihnat, Kristen Kendrick, Katie Lane, Kenneth Lane, Everett Longanecker, Brooklyn McKillip, Brian Moore, Don Swirtz and Marlene Trent.
