Werner Beef and Brew is now open at 5 a.m. serving an impressive breakfast buffet with Ken Werner’s ‘secret recipe’ sausage gravy to go over those big fluffy biscuits.
According to Sadie Rider, Ken’s daughter, they started breakfast last week and wanted to be open early for those people having to get to work or those heading out fishing.
“It’s always been in the plan to add breakfast to our menu,” Rider said. “Ken has always made phenomenal sausage gravy with Werner sausage, so we are using his recipe.”
In fact, Sadie said that their goal is to use as much locally produced products in their deli, store and on their menu. A good example is, they only use Tillamook Cheese, they serve Five Rivers locally roasted coffee, they carry beer from the Pelican Brewery along with their own line of beers, and much more like a small line of Lucky Bear Soap Co. products in the retail part of the business.
On the buffet is biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, potatoes O’Brien, sausage links or patties, bacon, ham and much more.
Part deli, part grab-and-go convenience store and part taproom, the shop located next to Werner Meat Snacks on Third Street across from Goodspeed Park (and under the massive U.S. flag), serves many needs under one roof.
“No one in our family has worked in a restaurant or been involved in a restaurant in any way,” owner Ken Werner said, “But I always wanted to own a meat market.”
Walking into Werner Beef and Brew, it feels as though the interior could have been lifted straight from Portland’s swanky post-industrial Pearl District. Brick veneer and repurposed wood adorn the walls and counters – while the mounted bobcat on one of the cold cases is a great clue to customers they are still in Tillamook.
A big draw for many customers may be one centralized location to find all of Werner Brewing Company’s core craft beers from Ken’s sons, twin brothers Daniel and George.
Werner Beef and Brew is located at 2807 Third St., Tillamook (under the big flag). The storefront will be open Tuesday-Thursday 5 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Breakfast is ready to go and you can pile as much on as you want in the buffet style. You can eat in or grab it to go.
