We voted "no" because we believe safe procedures for shoppers in Fred-Meyer and Safeway stores should require face-masks. They don't. True, more people are wearing face-masks than a month ago, but still many do not. These same customers are the ones that seem to think there is no need for distancing and clearly believe they could be asymptomatic carriers. Clearly, much of our local public does not understand that they could be without symptoms of COVID-19 for up to 14 days and be spreading it around to others. As we are in the "at risk" group, this is a matter of life or death for us. We are asking the essential services in the county, please, for the sake of your customers, require face-masks for people entering your business. It's the right thing to do.

I completely agree. Oregon's virus numbers are increasing. This is NOT the time to relax safety precautions.

Social distancing lowered the rate of infections. When more people gather, the rate will go back up, as it has in other states and around the world. This virus is probably here to stay and things won't revert to something vaguely akin to what we thought of as normal 4 months ago until a vaccine has been developed that affords protection. Which means it would be a really good idea for those who are most susceptible to lay low for the next year or so.
