On July14-15 the three Tillamook youth who qualified for the event attended the Oregon 10 & Under Long Course in Beaverton.
Nina Zweifel, age nine, swam the 100 free with a time of 1:18.64 placing third. She also swam the 200 free with a time of 2:55.61 placing fourth and the 50 Backstroke with a time of 42.01 placing second. Zweifel shaved 5 seconds off of her previous best in the backstroke and as impressive 10 seconds from her 100 freestyle.
Whitney Averill, age 10 swam the 50 breast with a time of 45.29 placing sixth and the 100 Fly at 1:37.07 placing twelfth. She also swam in the 50 free in 34.32 placing seventh, the 50 fly 42.31 placing twelfth, the 100 breast in 1:42.08 placing eighth, the 100 Free in 1:20.51 placing fourteenth. Averill also took an impressive amount of time off of one of her swims, with a six second cut in her 50 Free.
Marshall Allen, age eight, swam the 50 free in 39.71 placing eighth, the 100 free in 1:28.15L placing seventh, the 50 backstroke in 51.15 placing 23rd. Marshall also took an impressive 5 seconds off of his 50 backstroke.
“I couldn't be more proud of these three said” Tillamook Sharks coach Shannon Pearson. “They did so
well at this meet, and have worked so incredibly hard these last couple of months to prepare for this meet. Their hard work, and dedication is definitely paying off. They should be so proud of how well they swam.”
